Instudio commissioned a 16-minute pitch film for Shopify’s Toronto office redesign, centred around the idea of the workplace as a hospitality-led environment rather than a conventional office. Motion, pacing and visual structure were used to communicate how the proposed spaces would function across multiple floors.
Following the successful pitch, branding and environmental graphics were developed across a series of collaborative hub spaces within the office. Each environment was given its own visual identity while remaining connected through a wider cohesive system.
The project spanned entrances, signage, menu systems, wall graphics and material applications across cafés, lounges and shared spaces. Graphic elements and signage were designed in direct response to the architecture and materials of each environment, allowing the branding to feel integrated rather than applied afterwards.
Material-led detailing played a central role throughout the project, including CNC-routed timber signage, brushed metallic vinyl and layered acrylic lettering. The result is a flexible but consistent identity system designed to operate across a large-scale physical environment.
